Executive producer Steve Carell recruits Rashida Jones, his former co-star in "The Office," for the lead role in a police procedural that plays out like a small-screen version of "The Naked Gun." Angie Tribeca leads a squad of LAPD detectives who investigate, says the network, "the most serious cases, from the murder of a ventriloquist to a rash of baker suicides." Angie works best alone. The only problem? The squad also includes apoplectic captain Chet Atkins, quirky, bespectacled medical examiner Dr. Monica Scholls, and Detective DJ Tanner.

Los Angeles Times
Led by a very game Rashida Jones as the spiritual descendant of Leslie Nielsen's Frank Drebin, the series is smarter about being stupid than anything this side of "Adult Swim."

NPR
At some point, American television comedy started aspiring to sophistication in a way that, on the whole, is a good thing. But there's something to be said for slapstick, and Angie Tribeca is saying it.

There is no subtext in the character actions in Angie Tribeca and that's one of the best things about it.

This season manages to somehow outdo last year in almost every category. It's one of those beautiful circumstances where you thought what you had before was so damn golden, only to have no idea of what a show might actually be capable of.

Along side Rashida Jones' eccentric performance, the suitable amount of laughs to be had will definitely help off-set the hiccups that have accumulated since Season 1.
