Audience Member Best news comedy show on tv. The writing is sharp and every episode is filled with as many hard hitting jokes as one can fit into 30min. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member It used to be a fantastic news source for stories that didnt get much attention nationally. I enjoyed its deep dives. Now it is just another political hack talking about Trump & Co. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review david b I've watched this show from the beginning. Maybe I din't notice the political bias, but for the last six months or so it just seems like trump bashing and it's getting boring. S06E03 had 15 minutes of trump bashing, then it got better with only some trump bashing injected here and there. Seriously, change the record! I always thought John Oliver took an independent view on politicians. I genuinely didn't realise he was pushing a pro Democrat message. Shame. I stopped watching the Daily Show and Stephen Colbert about six months ago for the same thing. Looks like I'm headed in that direction now with John Oliver. Susannah Butter London Evening Standard John Oliver has been on ferocious form recently as host of the satirical news... It's easy to mock, of course, and the President offers a big target, but Oliver's methods are forensic. Nov 19, 2018 Full Review Daniel Krauze El Financiero [The show's] comedy is good. The consistency and solidity of it's journalism is even better. [Full review in Spanish] Sep 7, 2018 Full Review Joanna Robinson Vanity Fair In other words, Oliver is applying Trump's "many people are saying" tactic with one key difference: Last Week Tonight has the proof to back it up. Jun 22, 2018 Full Review Ben Dowell Radio Times The satirical venom of this patron saint of the liberal left probably won't be silenced again any time soon. Jun 1, 2018 Full Review Erik Henriksen The Stranger (Seattle, WA) Like PBS NewsHour, it offers fewer stories but better reporting, something that's increasingly valuable in a post-truth era.
