Angel Bonanni

Uruguayan model turned actor Angel Bonanni was a popular actor on Israeli television and features before making his American TV debut on the crime drama "Shots Fired" (Fox, 2017- ). Born February 7, 1972 in Uruguay to Italian and Ukrainian parents, he traveled extensively throughout his childhood, emigrating first to Australia at the age of six months, then returned to Uruguay before relocating to Israel at the age of 11. His interests followed an equally eclectic path: though passionate about music and acting, Bonanni traveled to Holland to play professional football at the age of 17. However, he was forced to curtail his sports career due to injuries, and moved into modeling, which took him throughout Europe and the United States. In 2007, he began working on Israeli television series, where he displayed a talent for light comedy on programs like "Ha-E Ha-Mitologi" (Keshet Broadcasting, 2007). He made his feature debut in the 2011 romance "Salsa Tel Aviv" (2011) before shifting gears to more serious fare with "Rock Ba-Casba" (2012), a thriller about tensions between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians in the late 1980s. The success of the film led to more dramatic assignments for Bonanni like the spy series "The Gordin Cell" (2014) and "False Flag" (Keshet Broadcasting, 2014- ) for "Allegiance" (NBC, 2015) producer Amit Cohen. In 2016, Bonanni was announced as a recurring cast member for "Shots Fired," an American drama about the murder of a white teenager by a black officer in North Carolina. The program, produced by Reggie Rock Bythewood ("New York Undercover," Fox, 1994-99) and Gina Prince-Bythewood ("Love and Basketball," 2000), was Bonanni's first project for English-language television.
