Connie Smith was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. She appeared in a number of television specials, including "The 60th Anniversary of the Grand Ole Opry" (CBS, 1985-86) and "The Grand Ole Opry 65th Anniversary Celebration: The New Tradition" (CBS, 1990-91). In the beginning of her Hollywood career, Smith acted in films like "Hell on Wheels" (1967) with Marty Robbins. She also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Hats Off to Minnie Pearl: America Honors Minnie Pearl" (1992-93), "The Women of Country" (CBS, 1992-93) and "America's Music: The Roots of Country" (TBS, 1995-96). She also appeared in "Grand Ole Opry 70th Anniversary" (1995-96), "Hello Darlin': A Tribute to Conway Twitty" (The Nashville Network, 1998-99) and "Merle Haggard: For the Record" (1999-2000). Most recently, Smith appeared in "Grand Ole Opry 75th -- A Celebration" (CBS, 2000-01).
