Edward Ellis
Edward Ellis worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. Early on in his acting career, Ellis landed roles in various films, including the Paul Muni crime picture "I Am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang" (1932), "From Headquarters" (1933) and "Hi, Nellie!" (1934). He also appeared in "The Last Gentleman" (1934) with George Arliss, the William Powell comedy "The Thin Man" (1934) and the adaptation "The Return of Peter Grimm" (1935) with Lionel Barrymore. His film career continued throughout the thirties in productions like the crime feature "Fury" (1936) with Spencer Tracy, the Ann Harding drama "The Lady Consents" (1936) and "The Texas Rangers" (1936). He also appeared in the dramatic adaptation "Winterset" (1936) with Burgess Meredith and "Maid of Salem" (1937) with Claudette Colbert. Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in "The Man in Blue" (1937), "A Man to Remember" (1938) and the musical "Little Miss Broadway" (1938) with Shirley Temple Black. He also appeared in the Richard Dix action flick "Man of Conquest" (1939) and "Three Sons" (1939). Ellis last acted in the James Craig western "The Omaha Trail" (1942).
