Actor-musician Faron Young made a splash in Hollywood both on and off-screen. Young's early acting career mostly consisted of roles in various films, such as the action flick "Daniel Boone, Trail Blazer" (1956) with Bruce Bennett, the musical "Country Music Holiday" (1958) with Ferlin Husky and "Nashville Rebel" (1966). He had an early role on the television special "Country Comes Home" (CBS, 1980-81). Young also contributed music to the comedic drama "Melvin and Howard" (1980) with Paul Le Mat. He also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Country Music Legends" (1986-87), "A Country Music Celebration: The 30th Anniversary of the Country Music Assocation" (CBS, 1987-88) and "Hats Off to Minnie Pearl: America Honors Minnie Pearl" (The Nashville Network, 1992-93). Young's other music credits included the Woody Harrelson dramedy "The People vs. Larry Flynt" (1996), the dramatic comedy "Committed" (2000) with Heather Graham and the Joaquin Phoenix blockbuster dramatic musical "Walk the Line" (2005). Young's music was most recently used in the Miles Teller dramatic adaptation "The Spectacular Now" (2013). In addition to his music, Young also appeared on-screen in "America's Music: The Roots of Country" (TBS, 1995-96). Young passed away in December 1996 at the age of 64.
