Jim Geoghan started his show business career as a member of the 1970s comedy trio Divided We Stand in New York City. After years of touring colleges and nightclubs across the United States and Europe, Jim headed out to Los Angeles to become a television writer in 1980. He settled into the sitcom niche, penning episodes for "Silver Spoons" (some which he also produced), "The Facts of Life," "Mama's Family," and "Too Close for Comfort." His knack for peppering the more captivating dynamics of kinship with elements of the unusual helped garner him career-defining roles as a co-executive producer and writer of the prime-time hit "Family Matters," a quintessential '90s show about an ordinary family increasingly unbalanced by the out-there inventions of their indelibly nerdy neighbor, Steve Urkel. Geoghan followed up that act with positions of a similar capacity on the successful Disney Channel franchise "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and its spin-off "The Suite Life on Deck." The comedy guru has proven to be an equally zany and enduring (if sporadic) scribe of such feature films as 1986's obsession comedy "Stoogemania" and the campy horror treat "Fangs" (2001). Also an acclaimed playwright, Geoghan counts a 500-show off-Broadway run of "Only Kidding!" among his many productions.
