Producer/director Kim Manners was best known for his work on the hit television fantasy series "The X-Files" and the siblings-chasing-the-unknown drama "Supernatural." His father, Sam Manners, was a producer on such popular 1960s television programs as the science fiction-tinged Victoriana of "The Wild Wild West" and the ultimate road trip series "Route 66," and Manners soon followed in his father's footsteps. After a brief stint as a child actor, he went on to serve as production manager on 42 episodes of the hit action television series "Charlie's Angels." By the end of the 1980s, he made the jump to director, working on such popular programs as the high school-set cop drama "21 Jump Street," and in the following decade began his association with "The X-Files." From 1995 to 2002, Manners would serve as director, co-executive producer, producer, and supervising producer on the show, and would earn four Emmy Award nominations for his work. In 2006, Manners signed on with another hit television series, "Supernatural," which again brought him multiple credits including executive producer. Manners died of lung cancer at the age of 58.
