The daughter of screen legend Jack Nicholson and model/actress Rebecca Broussard, Louise Nicholson made her screen debut at the age of 12 with a cameo appearance in a scene set in a supermarket in the romantic comedy "Something's Gotta Give," starring her father and Diane Keaton. Another small role, as the young Princess Lorraine, followed in the tween-oriented comedy sequel "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement." The Adam Sandler time-travel fantasy "Click" featured her first substantial role as Samantha, the teenage daughter of Sandler's character Michael and his wife, Donna (Kate Beckinsale). After that mainstream film, she burnished her indie cred with a supporting part in cult writer and director Bobcat Goldthwait's quirky black comedy "World's Greatest Dad," starring Robin Williams as a sad-sack poetry teacher who finds sudden fame after his son accidentally kills himself. That cynical, dark film was immediately followed by Nicholson's most prominent vehicle, the sleeper hit "Soul Surfer." Based on the true, inspiring story of a teenage girl who continues her surfing career after losing an arm to a shark attack, the film was a surprise success; Nicholson's co-starring role as Alana Blanchard proved to be her breakout, attracting far more attention than her previous roles. Lorraine Nicholson also joined a select group of celebrity offspring in 2007 when she served as Miss Golden Globe, a ceremonial position traditionally given to the teen daughter of famous parents at the annual Golden Globe Awards.
