Mikael Marcimain showed that directing in a form that prizes time constraints - commercials - didn't limit one's scope when working on something more substantial. Marcimain, born Paul Mikael Maurice Markimain on March 17, 1970 in Stockholm, Sweden, began directing Swedish TV shows in 1999, including "The Laser Man" (Jarowskij AB 2005) and "How Soon Is Now?" (Gotafilm 2007). He did several of those and also directed ad campaigns for such well-known companies as Ericsson, IKEA and Danske Bank. He got his chance to move to the big screen by helming the thriller "Call Girl" (2012), in which a prostitute rises to a position of power in the underworld. Marcimain next released his second feature length film, "Gentlemen" (2014), which was about a writer hiding out and writing about a pair of charismatic and dangerous brothers. It featured actor David Dencik, who had appeared in a couple of Marcimain's TV shows.
