Mouna Traoré

Mouna Traore was a Canadian actress who was best known for her recurring role on the Canadian drama series "Murdoch Mysteries" (City/CBC, 2008- ). Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, Traore always had a desired for performing. She began taking classes at the Young People's Theatre in Toronto, where she immersed herself in the craft of acting. Additionally, during summers as a teen, Traore attended an acting camp in Michigan, where she continued to hone her craft. After graduating from the University of Toronto, Traore moved to Berlin, where she worked professionally as a model. She modeled for a brief period for a German online store, but soon felt compelled to return to her first love - acting. Thus, Traore returned to Canada and began auditioning for film and TV parts. In 2009 she nabbed her first recurring role on the Canadian children's show "Majority Rules!" (Teletoon, 2009-10), and followed that up with bit parts on "Connor Undercover" (Family Channel, 2010-11) and "Being Erica" (CBC, 2009-11). Then in 2012 Traore landed her first big break when she began appearing in a recurring role on the Canadian police drama "Rookie Blue" (Global/ABC, 2010-15). Traore appeared on five episodes of the series in 2012. Traore continued nabbing film and TV parts over the next few years, most notably with a role in the horror film "Carrie" (2013), as well as a recurring part on the Netflix horror series "Hemlock Grove" (Netflix, 2013-15). Then in 2015 Traore landed her breakout role when she began playing the character Rebecca James on the Canadian crime-mystery series "Murdoch Mysteries." With her acting career already gaining steam, Traore nabbed another breakout part in 2018 when she began appearing on the American thriller series "Condor" (Audience Network, 2018- ). That series, which was based on director Sydney Pollack's 1975 political thriller "Three Days of the Condor" (1975), premiered on the Audience Network in June of 2018.
