Mstislav Rostropovich

Mstislav Rostropovich was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Rostropovich Performs Haydn" (1976-77), "A Capitol Fourth -- 1986" (PBS, 1985-86) and "The National Symphony Orchestra on Stage at Wolf Trap: Rostropovich Conducts Shostakovich" (PBS, 1985-86). He also appeared in "A Capitol Fourth -- 1988" (1987-88), "Bernstein at 70" (PBS, 1988-89) and "A Capitol Fourth 1990" (PBS, 1989-1990). He also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Carnegie Hall: Live at 100! The Gala Celebration" (1990-91), "Frozen Music: The Making of a Concert Hall" (PBS, 1990-91) and "Soldiers of Music: Rostropovich Returns to Russia" (PBS, 1990-91). He also appeared in "A Capitol Fourth (1992)" (PBS, 1991-92). Rostropovich was most recently credited in the Isaach DeBankolé crime flick "The Limits of Control" (2009). Additionally, he could be seen on a variety of television specials like "The Kennedy Center Honors: A Celebration of the Performing Arts" (1992-93), "A Salute to Slava" (PBS, 1994-95) and "New York Philharmonic Opening Night" (PBS, 1999-2000). He also appeared in "The Art of Violin" (PBS, 2001-02). Rostropovich passed away in April 2007 at the age of 80.
