Stunt performers are an endangered species, as so much risky and expensive live action can now be credibly created in complete safety and for a fraction of the price on a computer. Yet Nick Hobbs remains in demand after four decades of putting his body on the line in the name of entertainment. By no means all of his work in a career that spans over 120 films and television programs has been for blockbusting spectacles like "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" or "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." Indeed, he had been in the business for eight years before he finally received an on-screen credit for John Landis's 1981 horror "An American Werewolf in London." Having doubled for Steve Railsback in the 1985 space horror "Lifeforce," Hobbs began racking up some impressive titles, including such classics as the 1984 adventure "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," the 1985 fantasy "Brazil," and 1989 comic-book revival "Batman." He also worked on the James Bond entries "Octopussy," "A View to a Kill," and "GoldenEye." Moreover, he regularly performed stunts on TV series like the 1997 adaptation of "Ivanhoe" and, from the turn of the century, he started co-ordinating effects on such shows as "Heartbeat," "The Worst Week of My Life," and "Midsomer Murders." Hobbs has also amassed a number of acting credits since 1971, most notably playing Aggedor in the 1974 "Doctor Who" story "The Monster of Peladon" and Mr Nainby in the 2010 episode "Amy's Choice."
