Pat Paulsen was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. In 1968, he began facetiously running for president, actually garnering real votes. In 1967, he joined the "Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" on CBS. He joined the acting group the Ric-y-tic Players. Early on in his acting career, Paulsen spent time on a variety of series with roles in "The Wild Wild West" (1965-1970), "The Summer Smothers Brothers Show" (CBS, 1967-68) and "The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour" (CBS, 1967-1972). This recognition propelled him to pursue a role in "Foreplay" (1974) with Zero Mostel. He then appeared in the Barbara Eden comedic drama "Harper Valley P.T.A." (1978), the Sheila Kennedy comedy "Ellie" (1984) and "Night Patrol" (1984). He also appeared in the comedy "Auntie Lee's Meat Pies" (1992) with Karen Black. Additionally, he could be seen on a variety of television specials like "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Special" (1988-89), "The Smothers Brothers Thanksgiving Special" (CBS, 1988-89) and "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour... Ghosts, Governments and Other Scary Things" (CBS, 1988-89). He also appeared in "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour... Fun 'n' Games" (CBS, 1988-89). Paulsen last appeared in "But... Seriously" (Showtime, 1993-94). Paulsen passed away in April 1997 at the age of 70.
