From the moment he entered the world to much fanfare, Prince William led a storybook life that fascinated millions of people the world over. As the first-born son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, who arrived in the world on on June 21, 1982, Prince William lived a life of privilege and was deeply loved by his parents and family as well as the British public. But in 1997, his charmed life took a tragic turn when he unexpectedly lost his beloved mother in an infamous auto accident when he was just 15 years old. As a result of the tragedy, Prince William became his country's last great hope for the monarchy. Not surprisingly, he grew up under the watchful eye of a world press that chronicled his accomplishments, military experience, and charitable works.
