Richard Brestoff was widely known for his acting on the big screen. He worked in series television while getting his start in acting, including a part on "The New Operation Petticoat" (NBC, 1978-79). He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Pottsville" (CBS, 1979-1980) and "The Brady Girls Get Married" (NBC, 1980-81). He additionally landed roles in the TV movies "Operation Petticoat" (ABC, 1977-78) and "Rape and Marriage: The Rideout Case" (CBS, 1980-81). He next focused his entertainment career on film, appearing in "My Favorite Year" (1982), the Barbara Hershey horror movie "The Entity" (1982) and the comedy "The Man With Two Brains" (1983) with Steve Martin. He also appeared in "Return to Horror High" (1987). He also worked in television around this time, including a part on "Murder, She Wrote" (CBS, 1984-1996). Toward the end of his career, he tackled roles in the Jack Lemmon drama "Dad" (1989), "Loverboy" (1989) with Patrick Dempsey and the Ken Wahl action picture "The Taking of Beverly Hills" (1991). He held additional roles in television including a part on "Medicine Ball" (Fox, 1994-95). Most recently, Brestoff acted on "The Fugitive" (CBS, 2000-01).
