Rodney Perry

Rodney Perry's earliest television credit was an episode of "BET's Comicview" during the early 2000s. He subsequently took his stand-up routine to "Jamie Foxx Presents Laffapalooza," and by the middle of the decade, had made appearances on a number of televised comedy showcases. Perry also landed movie roles, including '04's "Johnson Family Vacation" starring prominent black comedian Cedric the Entertainer; but through the end of the decade, he was still better-known for his stage act, which revolved around observational humor. For several years beginning in 2006, he co-hosted the cable show "Who's Got Jokes?," in which a group of stand-up comedians competed for the best three-minute routine. During that time, he also appeared on an episode of "Def Comedy Jam," the long-running platform for up-and-coming black entertainers, the "Cut'n It Up" video series, and many other comedy shows. Beginning in 2009, Perry began co-hosting "The Mo'Nique Show," a late night program which, for the first time in history, featured an African-American female host. During the early 2010s, he continued to work in television and film, co-starring in the Tyler Perry film "Madea's Big Happy Family" as a husband and father going through a turbulent time in his marriage, and re-teaming with Cedric the Entertainer for a comedy called "Dance Fu."
