With her ethereal voice and charm, Stéphanie Lapointe easily captured audiences' hearts and votes to win season two of "Star académie" (TVA, 2003-05, 2009), which proved to be her launching pad for a successful musical and acting career. Born on March 26, 1984 in Brossard, Québec, Canada, Lapointe's interest in music began at an early age. She started playing the piano at eight, and acted in school plays throughout her elementary years. In early 2000, Lapointe became a member of a group that performed musical comedies, undoubtedly learning skills that helped her win season two of the Canadian reality competition series "Star académie." Enamored by Lapointe's dreamy voice and honest lyrics about young love, her fans embraced her debut album, Sur le fil (2005), which spawned the hit singles "Nous sommes" and "La mer." It also earned Lapointe critical reviews and an award for Best Francophone Video for "La mer" at the 2006 MuchMusic Video Awards. While she made her mark primarily as a singer, Lapointe also dabbled in acting. She appeared on the miniseries "Le négociateur" (TVA, 2005) and in the drama "Aurore" (2005), based on the true story of a victim of child abuse. On top of her musical projects, Lapointe was also involved in various charities, including CARE Canada, for which she helped raise funds by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 2005. In 2009, she released the album Donne-moi quelque chose qui ne finit pas featuring the singles "Une fleur" and "A quoi."
