Yo-Yo Ma worked in a variety of genres and built up a diverse and reputable career. He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Liberty Weekend" (1985-86), "The Night of Music: A Global Celebration" (1986-87) and "Gian Carlo Menotti: The Musical Magician" (1986-87). He also appeared in "Ozawa" (1986-87). He also took on a few movie roles at the time, appearing in the drama "Heart of the Garden" (1985) with Morgen Leigh. Yo-Yo Ma won an Outstanding Individual Achievement - Classical Music/Dance Programming Primetime Emmy Award for "Tchaikovsky 150th Birthday Gala From Leningrad" in 1991. In the nineties, Yo-Yo Ma devoted his time to various credits, such as "Before Sunrise" with Ethan Hawke (1995), "Sarabande" (1997), "Six Gestures" (1997) and "The Tango Lesson" (1997) starring Sally Potter. In the early 2000s, Yo-Yo Ma lent his talents to projects like "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" (2003), "Five Days in September: The Rebirth of an Orchestra" with Peter Oundjian (2005), "Knowledge is the Beginning" (2005), "Memoirs of a Geisha" (2005) starring Zhang Ziyi and "Blindsight" (2008). Yo-Yo Ma last provided music for the Domhnall Gleeson thriller "Ex Machina" (2015).
