dave j Monday, April 5, 2014 (1982) Ten Violent Women CRIME DRAMA Another low budget film that can be taken from the Quentin Tarantino's movie vault since the idea can be appreciated than for it's production values and it's acting. Watching this is like watching two different kind of films which at the beginning show cases women successfully robbing a jewelry store. One of the things they stole was an exclusive ring belonging to a sheik where he vows to get back. At the same time, the women then plan to sell the jewelry for a substantial amount of money to an undisclosed dealer. By the time they confront the dealer, he in turn wanted to buy the jewels in heroin instead of paying them in cash, threatening them to leave everything they have with him. The women then went against him taking not only the jewels, but also the bags of heroin. The other movie I was talking about, is that a few of them then end up in a women's prison with the movie making Samantha (Sherri Vernon) the anti-heroine, facing old sadistic warden by the name of Miss Terry (Georgia Morgan) and her faithful side kick, Madge (Jane Farnsworth) who's really a religious fanatic. Miss Terry also happens to be a dyke who enjoys S&M. Anyone expecting this movie to have some hot nude and make out scenes will be very disappointed. The gimmick I was referring about in which director Quentin Tarantino had used from this film are the wording storyline which he's used for "Jackie Brown". You know when they use specific lines to tell the story, such as "this is the story of 10 violent women..." appeared on the screen for viewers to see. And, oh yeah, one of the most frustrating things about this film which brought this film to an one star rating is the fact that a percentage of this movie takes place in the dark, and that the characters still be able to see in the dark even without a flashlight, how odd is that. 1 star out of 4 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Silly and barely entertaining even on a camp level. The film has no stars, is cheaply made, poorly written and directed, and really doesn't offer much. It tells the story of 10 women who decide leave their life as miners (huh?) for a life of crime. They are promptly arrested and go to prison where the film then devolves even further into the many women-in-prison film cliches. Ted V. Mikels has something of a cult following, but this was the first of his films I've seen and I wasn't impressed.
