Jeannette Catsoulis New York Times Mostly, however, this dreary Antipodean curiosity is a yob-filled slog of hard-man posturing, all of it bathed in an oppressive testosterone funk. And I haven't even mentioned the hairy buttocks. Rated: 2/5 Nov 12, 2010 Full Review Diego Semerene Slant Magazine The camera has penetrated the fabric of everyday life in unsettling and insidious ways, but not quite enough to mistake the pseudo-documentary-ness of The Magician for recorded reality. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 31, 2010 Full Review Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times A gritty, shot-off-the cuff gem and a top prize winner in its native Australia. Rated: 4/5 Oct 28, 2010 Full Review Andrew F. Peirce The Curb The Magician, while predominantly a character study, does highlight how comfortable Australia is with criminality. Jan 27, 2021 Full Review Ron Wilkinson Monsters and Critics The Aussie New Wave sends out a very indie understated crime thriller. Rated: 8/10 Nov 5, 2010 Full Review Fr. Chris Carpenter Movie Dearest A fairly pointless and not particularly well-accomplished exercise, although Scott Ryan gives an impressive, charismatic performance. Thomas S Off beat and right up my street. The Magician and his victim are hilarious Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/22/23 Full Review Gareth v The source material for the excellent Mr Inbetween. Even though it's about a hitman, it's focus is on the mundane, and the life of being a hitman rather than the action and violence. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review les n I've just come from YouTube and watched Jay Leno asking Americans about countries outside of the US. The responses are embarrassing....much the same as the American critics review of any movie made outside if the US. Mad Max actually had SUBTITLES!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member As a fan of Mr. Inbetween, this was a must-see. It acts as a low-budget pilot for the series. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Great acting, good music and a mediocre plot. 6/10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member The film's gritty, bare bones look and feel, creates a believable stereotype of a Hitman in Melbourne's underworld. Thoroughly enjoyed, 3 thumbs up!! :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
