Brian Weathersby (Paul Dano), a mattress salesman with successful siblings, wants to get more out of life. He makes a decision to adopt a child, and, as he begins the process, strange events begin to occur. First, Brian starts to think he's being stalked. Then the unconventional daughter of one of his customers -- Harriet Happy Lolly (Zooey Deschanel) -- begins hanging around. Brian must prepare for potential fatherhood while dealing with Happy's overbearing father, Al (John Goodman).

Romantic story about the weirdest characters from the weirdest families. Deschanel and Dano do a good job but it is just not that funny nor works that well. It is just too artifficially weird.

For those of you who have a bad back this film will have you in stitches as the actors especially John give a performance that is hilarious. Photography and lighting have given a beautiful natural rendition to the overall movie giving a texture that is rich. Music adds a contemporary richness to the finish of this art piece. Nibbles: Bagel and Cheese.
