Fernando F. Croce Slant Magazine Life's prisons, whether behind bars or outside of them, are the underlying theme in Ozcan Alper's visually gorgeous but ultimately listless Autumn. Rated: 2/4 Mar 27, 2009 Full Review Film Threat Rated: 3/5 Oct 22, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Natural camera settings and atmosphere. It is like you are in the movie and see it with your own eyes. Özcan Alper is a great activist and filmmaker. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Vusal I A poet says 'To one thing on the earth my heart burns for / those who passed away in the spring of their life'. And it is Autumn: Sonbahar which in Turkish means the last spring. A great film with a minimalistic warm and sincere play. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/25/20 Full Review Audience Member film o iskelede bitseydi kusursuz olacakti benim icin... Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't think I hv seen many films that so zealously subscribes to the conception of Cinema as a visual medium. The visual symbolism comprehensively transcends the plot here with many scenes containing the lead character himself conscious of the backdrop he is thrown in,trying to figure out his inner turmoil through the overwhelming nature that surrounds him. We have scenes slices of it in films like "Into The Wild" but hardly anyone as deeply imbibed of it as "Autumn". Ofcourse, if you have a little bit of knowledge about recent political history of Turkey, it'll help discerning different shades of emotions lead characters go through but it's not at all a prerequisite to appreciate the brilliance of filmmaking involved and should not make any difference to the overall impact movie has. So,Watch it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member It is really difficult to believe this is the work of a debutant director.Sonbahar a.ka autumn is exactly what the name claims it to be. It illustrates the solitude and desperation of a man who has lost the best part of his life in jail and has to confront the autumn of his life filled with regret and emptiness. The manner in which the film achieves this is what makes it special.Rather than resorting to words and melodrama to evoke emotions, the film uses the landscapes and human behaviour to reveal the inner angst of the characters. Sonbahar is set in a beautiful little village in the mountain ranges of northern turkey .Just couple of hours down the hills a small seaside town. The entire film is spent in slowly yet beautifully capturing the journey that protagonist makes between these two places, which in turn helps us identify with his emotions. This is more of a mood movie, do not expect a traditional plot or a definite conclusion to it. Recommended for its beautiful cinematography, visual storytelling and performances, especially by the lead actor Onur Saylak. The director Ã-zcan Alper is definitely one of the talents to watch out for in the future. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Şiir gibi...Hüzünlü bir şiir...Sanki yavaş gidecekmiş gibi....Ancak o kadar güzel akıyor ki film...Karadeniz başrolde...Helal olsun diyorum çekenlere...
