Christopher J a good chevy chase movie though story could use some work and a little more laughs THUMBS UP! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/29/24 Full Review Blu B It's ok. It does get better in the second half somewhat despite a slow first half. The main issue here is Hill's direction and a script that needed more refinement. There are plenty of shots that are beautiful in this and well framed like films of old but while there pretty to look at, this is a comedy. And it visually doesn't set up jokes well. That's the main issue above all else, the jokes aren't consistently funny save for the testicle jokes which was hilarious and the highlight. This struggles with setting up the punchline and alternates between being pretty to look at and sometimes funny gags. Hill it feels like is shooting a Hallmark Family movie and it clashes with the material and tone. Finally, it just needed to be be wittier with the script. It feels like in the first half stuff just happens when they move there before settling down into a story. If it was funnier conssitnetly doing that, than it could be forgiven but as it stands it's a inconsistent forgettable comedy. Everything about it is just ok. Skip This unless your a die hard Chase fan. I guess this is also echnically a Christmas Movie as well suprisingly. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/07/23 Full Review J K Underrated lol. I grew up moving to a small town that seemed perfect and it ended up being not so perfect. Fantastic to see a story premise around this concept Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/23 Full Review Tamberlane A A highly amusing venture into the bizarre train wreck that is small town living. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/06/23 Full Review Geoff T Starts out with a bit of promise and a few chuckles but they become further apart as the movie progresses. Passes the time and Madolyn Smith is great . Chevy is Chevy but not up there with his Vacation efforts. Ok.. but not as hilarious as one would expect for this "fish out of water" tale. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/23 Full Review Douglas B Madolyn Smith, the car, the dog and the nice scenery are the only reasons to watch this. And it's not because it's an 80s movie in 2023, it's because, well, you know, Chevy Chase isn't funny. An actual comedic actor like Steve Martin or John Candy might've saved this one, but Chase does all of his flat, predicable and tired shtick and it's 🥱. She's absolutely adorable and you can tell she's doing her best to save it. There are a few good character actors in it too, but it's pretty forgettable. It's too bad, I think the premise had some potential. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
