Dwight Brown Sepia Poorly written, directed, and acted, only a few generous location shots of Israel save this film from being the worst carbon-copy picture of all time. Aug 10, 2022 Full Review Vincent Canby New York Times Paradise... is The Blue Lagoon with camels. It is also, without doubt, the best camel movie of the year to date, though the producers probably mean it to be romantic, and camels are not, by any stretch of the imagination, romantic. Leonardo T Sorry to say, there's only one reason to watch this POS; Phoebe Cates-sans clothes Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Over 40 years old and I remember watching this over 10 years ago Starring a young Phoebe Cates and Willie Aimes They star as David and Sarah in the year 1823 Georgian era Suddenly they are attacked by Arab marauders, much of the adults are slain including their parents Their leader is 'The Jackal' who makes it clear he wants Sarah all to himself Both she and David escape into the desert hoping to get away from the marauders So they both have to rely on each other to survive but also keep hope alive they can see civilization again Along the way they discover puberty, love, and the physical act of love It's actually not as terrible as people make it out to be it takes the setup of what 'Blue Lagoon' did but if you're tuning into this film just for the nude scenes just be aware its pretty softcore It delivers on what it promises; two people meet and by fate lose everything they ever cared for and have to rely on one another to live outside cut off from society The scenery in the film is spectacular with locations shifting from desert to beach to ocean to oasis I can certainly point out the small problems this movie makes such as the score which is pretty overbearing for the majority of the story and Phoebe Cates (shes gotta work a bit better on her line delivery) But besides that I really admire this touching, heartwarming, and very romantic love story and man I really love how those chimps steal every scene! And unlike the 'Blue Lagoon' theres actually a real threat looking over these people's shoulders Lastly the thing Im most glad about is the ending...it didnt make me cry and didn't suck So despite Cates being a bit off with her lines and being iffy about the lovemaking portions later in life she gets to sing the song during the end credits Overall I still liked this a lot Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Phobe Cates nude scenes fantastic Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member this guy ruined this movie, he has the most stupid voice of any movie, who put this guy in this movie ???? they should be shot..... Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Really shouldn't be compared to Blue Lagoon. Sure they do have to fend for themselves for half of the movie, but there's more going on in the story. So this is much better than Blue Lagoon. There's some good action scenes, and the two of them are trying to escape and get somewhere. They made a nice couple, there was a little comedy, and they weren't entirely clueless and helpless which helps the audience watch it. It's not a great movie, but it was okay. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review James C This "Blue Lagoon" in the desert ripoff is (I must admit) a guilty pleasure of mine.Willie Aames is terrible in the lead, but Phoebe Cates (as always) is interesting to watch. Both male and female nudity galore in this film that also features some beautiful scenery and some enjoyable action sequences.
