Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …Tourist Trap is a Californian cheapie for sure, but it’s a minor genre classic…the strengths of this oddball little movie are less about its place in cinema history as the atmosphere, which is fetid, nasty and genuinely threatening… Rated: 4/5 Jun 26, 2025 Full Review Ashvin Prakash Horror Movie Club Podcast The creepy dolls, creative kills, and the over-the-top score elevate Tourist Trap from being a throw-away late 70s slasher and make it into a fun ride. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 12, 2025 Full Review Brian Bisesi Horror Movie Club Podcast Tourist Trap may not be the most exciting or gruesome film from the Golden Era of Slashers, but it is more haunting and eerie than the bulk of its peers. What it lacks in slasher tropes it makes up for in its memorable production design and aesthetic. Rated: 4/5 Mar 12, 2025 Full Review Jorge Loser Espinof A beautiful example of American gothic. Will G For its budget and period it's a good atmospheric creepy horror movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/06/25 Full Review Garry A I liked this. It must have been considered pretty scary when it came out. Today it's just weird and creepy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/05/25 Full Review Jeepers C This was a creepy little 70's horror that I actually liked, despite all the bad reviews on here. I think there's alot of younger reviewers on here that just can't appreciate psychological horror. Their opinion of a good horror movie is bad cgi plus jump scares. This is one of the creepiest pg horrors that I have seen. The atmosphere in this movie and the mannequins will freak you out. Watch out for those Tourists traps. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/20/25 Full Review Justin T Tourist Trap was made in the seventies and it looks very seventies. I mean the picture was functional but it is a product of its time. I don’t mind but I can’t help but think that it just looked a bit boring and dated. The sound was functional. It did the job without being memorable or even noticeable. The idea of the wax figures coming to life was very cool but it was over-used. The story didn’t really make sense either with the guy and what he does. The acting was rather wooden. I think some people would find it scary but not massively. I can’t say that I was scared though. Overall it’s a dated but moderately entertaining movie that transcends above its premise (just). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/15/25 Full Review Farah R I watched Tourist Trap after a friend recommended it, and I'm here to save you from making the same mistake. Don't bother wasting your time on this nonsense of a story, terrible acting, laughable effects and makeup, and horrible ending. Go watch The Conjuring or something. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/30/25 Full Review Mark H A car breaks down on a dusty road off the beaten track, leaving a group of young 20-something kids to seek help from a creepy local who owns a former tourist trap museum. Very derivative of Texas Chainsaw, with many similar plot points and a similarly dusty, gritty 70s atmosphere. Not a great movie, but few horror films are great. It is creepy, with some very scary scenes and sets. Involves telepathy for some reason. Not especially bloody, save for an early kill with a hollow metal pipe. Still, this is no movie for kids, yet it somehow received a PG rating, making it one of the scariest PG movies ever made, along with Jaws and Poltergeist. A somewhat underrated and lesser known horror movie from the late 70s. Chuck Connors is pretty convincing as a charming psychopath. This is one of those movies where the characters do things no sensible person would ever do, but it’s still a pretty good 85 minutes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/14/25 Full Review Read all reviews
