Critics did not understand Cry Fredom and they don't understand this film. Dr Raye Crane is very annoying but she is supposed to be. 007 was charming. The indigenous people were treated respectfully (speaking as someone from and living on a reservation in the US). The topic of the exploitation of native people ND the environment was prescient and the plot twist of what the cure actually was proved to be clever and an "aha" moment. There are two dozen movies I watch at least once a year and this is one of them. I won't watch Citizen Kane ever again but I've watched this film 20 or 30 times and never get tired of it. It is very enjoyable.

A movie in one way, ahead of its time. 30 years ago it predicted how deforestation would lead to a loss of biodiversity. And a loss of biodiversity then makes man vulnerable to a disease

I may be the only one that likes this movie, but I think it's well-paced and cinematically pretty. Sean Connery is fun here, and it at least sticks out from typical fare. Lorraine Bracco's character is a bit annoying, but apart from that, the film gets a bad rap.
