The film's melodramatic ending sorts everything out in the approved style of the genre, but the movie is really better than that, a portrait of a woman who endures, thinks, and survives. Go to Full Review

For a story about a London harlot's trials and tribulations, this is one unsexy, drawn-out dirge with only a few smirking moments as relief. Go to Full Review

Moll Flanders is an admirable effort but still a bit difficult to sit through. Go to Full Review

The movie takes Moll's name, but mollifies her spirit. Go to Full Review

The plot hinges on rather too much coincidence, and some lines of the British-accented dialogue garble on the soundtrack, but the film offers charming performances and a vivid sense of time, place and human dignity. Go to Full Review

alan g @agenser 11/18/2024 A decent story ruined by the presence of Morgan Freeloader. See more 05/28/2022 The tale is lengthy and hard to fit into a film - but young Wright does a solid job of telling the story of Moll who escapes prostitution to become a mother. The hardest part is watching Rizzo from Grease work as her pimp. See more Frances H 05/04/2020 absolutely nothing like the Daniel Defoe classic and parts are not bad, but the rest is boring.
