This is your run of the mill action/thriller, that ultimately fails to deliver much tension or excitement. The premise was interesting enough and should have made for a better viewing experience. Both main characters felt a little uninspired and things that happened in the movie were just a little too convenient to be believable. We don't even get any real motivation for why things are happening until near the end and by then its too late. Overall, not a bad film but nothing special here.

Outside of the unusual consideration given to the villain's perspective, there really isn't much of note here. Leder's a competent enough director to keep the movie mostly watchable, but it's just such a bland screenplay.

This film is the closest one can get to a perfect movie. When I first saw it the first movie that came to mind was The Fugitive. Tight, taunt and fast paced. It's Lean with no excess fat. There's no trouble at all following the plot. The dialogue is just salty enough to keep that snicker on your face. The point of the exercise is about action and thrills. The bad guys are basically bad and the good guys are worth rooting for. But what makes it all come together is the star power of Nicole Kidman and George Clooney. Both are at their watchable best. Especially Clooney who has the chops to play a damn good action hero. I wasn't much of a fan for either of them but I really like them in this. The chemistry is just right. So why the four and a half stars? Well, the truth is I like action movies, especially when they have an intelligence script. Clooney sold it for me. This is the umpteenth time I have seen it and I really get a kick out of watching him chewing up the scenery. Action for excitements sake.

Nicole Kidman not right for this role. She ruins the seriousness of the movie. Good story. Good acting other than Ms Kidman, who was utterly miscasted. Watch first 25 n final 25 minutes.
