Audience Member This is a terrible version of Shakespear's famous Othello. It has been modernised and has been attempted to achieve the same level as the modernised Romeo and Julliet with Di Caprio (which might i add is a masterpiece) but has failed. Has some entertaining aspects but the other Othello version, which is set in the stated time, is the one that comes out on top. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This adaptation of Othello in modern vernacular speech is interesting and thoroughly entertaining, especially in its slow development of Othello and Desdemona's relationship, but it would be a lot more interesting if it didn't ape the Kenneth Branagh adaptation so broadly. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member very well acted and it was very well done modernizing a story that is hundreds of years old. But its missing somthing. its very dry and slow and if your a fan of shakpere or any of the cast it worth watching. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A good movie. It followed the basic plot alright, and yet lacked in the area that Jago wasn't as sinister or evil as Iago and in the end Jago got all he wanted and no one knew the truth. However not so in the book. Not that I'm saying the movie had to follow the book exactly but it is interesting how they decided to make Jago the winner overall. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member This adaptation of my favorite Shakespeare play, is absolutely riveting!!! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member I freaking love Christopher Eccleston and Richard Coyle, so that was nice, otherwise I felt it missed the mark a little. I laughed a lot though. At it. So, enjoyable, though probably not the reaction it was going for. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Steven Oxman Variety Anyone who buys into the idea that tragedies are supposed to be ennobling should take a look at this contemporized version of Othello on Masterpiece Theatre, a potently disturbing telepic probably without peer. Mar 4, 2019 Full Review John Leonard New York Magazine/Vulture If they're going to get rid of all that iambic pentameter, why not change the depressing ending too?
