John Leonard New York Magazine/Vulture ... I have to say that Irons is an excellent, if an unlikely, Fitzgerald, with just the right amount of frayed charm and damaged curiosity. Feb 1, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This was and is an excellent film with Jeremy Irons. I highly recommend it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Frances H Well acted and thoughtful, although the beginning was a bit slow. Nice, restrained performance from Neve Campbell, with the interaction between her character and Jeremy Irons warm and gently played. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/13 Full Review Audience Member A beaut! Everyone gives a solid performance. Why 'major critics' haven't acknowledged it yet is beyond me Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member What do you get if you pair a great writer with a tragic biography with Jeremy Irons and Henry Bromell directing? You get "Last Call", a vehicle with a lot of potential but a poor performance. Based on F.Scott Fitzgerald's life, or the last part of it, it goes a bit too far in painting Fitzgerald in dark, gloomy colors. Jeremy Irons is a charismatic actor, but he seems fake here, and it would have had been better if Zelda had been present in the text only, not also as a haunting hallucination(which wasn't that haunting at all to begin with)-Sissy Spacek didn't quite have a purpose in the story at all. Neve Campbell's Frances was a bad call, she didn't really go beyond being a mere witness to the action in the film. The colors and visuals were warm, glowing, the score was good, but the overall package didn't convince, which is too bad for a writer of Fitzgerald's name and status. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Gave this an effort, but couldn't get into it. Dissappointed because I was intruged by the plot of F Scott and the actors, but too dry for my current palet Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member stununing Jeremy Irons delivers in this movie which evokes the atmosphere of the time very well.
