      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Despite best intentions from director Emilio Estevez and his ensemble cast, they succumb to a script filled with pointless subplots and awkward moments working too hard to parallel contemporary times.

jon r I've been wanting to see this film for 15 years. I wish I'd have seen it sooner. Very good performances by an exemplary cast. Interesting, entertaining and worth watching. IMDB TV has it right now for free. Do yourself a favor. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member An important history lesson; entertaining, engaging; moving and human. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review steve d Some of it works, some of it doesn't. The acting is great, but it should have focused on Bobby himself. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This film was terrible. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Really boring. Not at all what I thought it was going to be. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jan 29, 2007 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard Using his haunting elegy for Martin Luther King over the final scene, Estevez makes most of what's gone before seem entertaining enough but fairly trivial. This is not, after all, Grand Hotel. Rated: 3/5 Jan 26, 2007 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Cinematic greatness might not be evident, Bobby's message of peace and justice shines through. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 31, 2021 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News It's kind of a soapbox approach, but it actually works -- making Bobby just good enough to be worth a look, even if it could have been so much more.
