Evan Williams The Australian There are many funny moments and some pleasing suspense towards the end, but as a cautionary tale about the dangers of overeating and obesity it's more likely to boost sales at the candy bar. That may be one good reason for watching it at home. Rated: 3/5 Jun 27, 2014 Full Review David Stratton At the Movies (Australia) Writer-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have expanded a 30-page children's book by Judi and Ron Barrett into a 3D animated feature which boasts intricate design and goofy humour. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 26, 2009 Full Review Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs is visually inventive and exuberant, and has some neat running gags. But its characterisations are a little disappointing. Rated: 3/5 Nov 26, 2009 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...a fun, larger-than-life premise that is, at the outset, employed to compulsively watchable effect... Rated: 2/4 Jun 18, 2024 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand Director/writer team Phil Lord and Chris Miller cobble a story around the storybook’s premise but it’s the whimsical imagery of raining hamburgers, a Jell-O mold castle, an ice-cream winter wonderland, and a spaghetti tornado that carries the film. Feb 4, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Offers a hearty mix of humor that will appeal to nearly every age group. Rated: 8/10 Nov 28, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Darío C Very goofy and chaotic. It is funny, and has an original story, giving a fun explanation to the original book. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/01/24 Full Review Mike P Nerdy Flint Lockwood is a big outcast in his hometown of Shadow Falls, until his invention elevates him from Zero to Hero...His invention which allows food to rain from the skies...And all is good ...Till the food starts mutating and getting too big ...And this is a fun Revenge of the Nerds type fable with Pixar-ish computer animation; which is not spectacular but serviceable...And the plot is essentially riffing on the old Kentucky Meat Shower story; and Manna from Heaven parables from the Bible. And it's all fun stuff. I don't know if this is the masterpiece everyone says it is; but it's cute... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Korra N Bizarrely animated and wacky hijinks make Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs a truly great time at the movies, with a cast of colorful characters and some truly hilarious bits. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/04/24 Full Review Daniel G This movie is able to have a simple narrative with the greatest execution. I recommend it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Eric M Underrated masterpiece. It may not be a great achievement in animation and character design. However the story is great, and it's filled with wholesome moments. The humor is typical Lord & Miller slapstick comedy. The same fast and witty humor you find in some of their other films like The Lego Movie or Spiderman into the Spiderverse. The music is on point (the song "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows" by Leslie Gore almost seems tailor made for this movie). The cast is perfect You can never go wrong with Bill Hader and Andy Samberg. This is not Pixar level animation, but there's not a single dull moment when you're not enjoying. There's a reason why this was the first bluray I ever bought. Perhaps its simplicity is what makes it great. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/10/24 Full Review Audience Member SONY Pictures Animation and directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller adapt the popular children’s book to the screen with voice actors like Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Bruce Campbell, James Caan, and Mr. T Flint Lockwood is a genius and an inventor of many things but he causes disaster after disaster in his small town on the island of Swallow Falls The town has faded into obscurity and financial ruin since all they are known for is sardines that taste awful But Flint’s latest invention is a converter able to turn water into food…any kind whether it’s steak, burgers, ice cream etc. He also wants to make his father proud despite the many times he’s messed up But it’s only a matter of time before it turns into a catastrophe Flint also meets and falls for a reporter intern Sam who’s also secretly a genius a spectacular kids movie even 15 years later Beautiful animation and very funny even if they made so many changes to the book the visuals are cool, the actors do a fine job plus the effect of having it in 3D makes it all worthwhile the comedy even sparks a alot of laughs with so many pop cultural references and sight gags the go by at a fast pace Plenty of messages about the trappings of fame, being short sighted, being very wary of technology not going with the flow, the wrong failure being a right tool at a different time I swear after seeing this movie all you want to do is eat up This movie put SONY Animation in the limelight paving the way for these animators to make future successful films Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review Read all reviews
