Audience Member Amazingly well-thought out in terms of plot and enhanced by the acting performance from Zhang Jingchu, it battles the cliche of a man doing anything to help out desperate attractive women until realizing it's too late and that it was a mistake to allow her (Fan) to suffer which tragically leads to her death that emphasizes "Drugs are bad, abusive husbands are bad". This is my favorite Chinese movie ever. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member 10/10. Amazing movie. Its like a mix of Requiem for a dream, the departed, Drive and internal affairs. A must see. unbelievably good film . Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is another well made Hong Kong crime/drama film from director and writer Derek Yee. The film centers around the seedy underworld of drug crime and human nature, addiction, and behavior towards it. It also delves in to friendship, loyalty, betrayal, and takes a look at how the cops, drug dealers and addicts lives may not be so different after all. Focusing on emptiness and loneliness the film tugs the heart string in part and is not for the queasy. A great watch for fans of the genre, Andy lau shines as always and Daniel Wu gives wonderful performance. Protégé will leave you questioning human behavior and what it means to be empty and lonely. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member informative, innovative and precise. all the good things i could think of in a drug/crime drama =) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Kinda Traffic in the Gold Triangle. The detached approach to the matter is epytmoized by the most interesting character, Lau's enterpreneus and "well meaning" drug dealer, but th pretty standard message weigth on the story, which lacks spark -' cept for the unfortunate hammer apitation of a Costumes cop, yppie!
