Victoria Segal New Statesman ... this art-fully fractured film is more interested in his enduring artistic impulses than in any clichd "testament to the human spirit". Rated: 3/5 Jul 9, 2007 Full Review Ted Murphy Murphy's Movie Reviews De Montalembert's achievements are inspiring and Tarn, who also composed the score, has found a terrific filmic correlation.I'm not certain this documentary will be for everyone, but it doespresent a compelling tale in an unusual manner. Rated: B May 7, 2007 Full Review Phil Hall Film Threat It is incomprehensible that such an amazing story could be the foundation of such a boring and inept film. Erick Not soo good, but director tryes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/07/22 Full Review Audience Member The narration by de Montalembert is mesmerizing, but the visual aspects are sometimes jarring and oftentimes don't enhance the narrative. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member De Montalembert's words and the way that he expresses his emotions in recalling events in his life pre and post sight are captivating enough. Gary Tam has gone to great lengths to give us something visually intriguing to contemplate as we hear those words. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A compelling insight into the blind artist's new vision of the world, with some equally compelling visuals and music from the director. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This documentary is about a French painter who lost his eyesight when he was attacked in his apartment in NY City during a robbery attempt. He took a very positive attitude towards his blindness which he tells us about in this movie. The video images that accompany his narration are interesting, but sometimes a bit maddening for me. Four stars. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member What is it to see after you lost your sight? What is it to still watch a film long after it had ended. The visual chain is mesmerising. It's like being in a cinema with a blind person and knowing what she or he sees. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
