Warrior relies on many of the clichés that critics of the genre love to mock -- and it transcends them with gripping action, powerful acting, and heart.

The characters are honest and true, the fight sequences are brutal and raw, while the central themes being delivered in the denouement pack a major emotional wallop. Go to Full Review

The MMA action is bone-jarring and brutal and you can feel each punch and kick. But at it’s core this is a brilliant and heartfelt character study brought to life by some strong acting and a rock solid script. Go to Full Review

Ian M. @macdaddy55 1d Great movie. People forget movies are not real life sometimes. The un-realistic parts is what make it so fun to watch! Two long lost brothers end up going to war against each other for 5 million dollars! See more Benjamin H Dec 11 Despite being a bit cliched, Warrior is a poignant, gripping and faceted sports drama that has well-written characters and outstanding performances. Not every part of its story is equally as interesting, but i was constantly riveted throughout due to the deft craftmanship behind the camera, in front of the camera and in the script. See more Elizabeth D Dec 1 I love this movie. Although I feel the ending did not satisfy my need for justice, I was happy with the way it ended. There was excellent landscapes in this film and I believe it really spoke to the lifestyle within Pittsburgh and Philly. Struggles to reconcile with an alcoholic father are all too real and I feel this movie did an excellent job highlighting the difficulties and complexities of human relationships in this dark world. I love the development of each of these characters within their own lives and struggles. A beautiful and melancholic narrative of human faults, the trenches of trauma, and the complexities of brotherhood. See more Steve R Nov 17 Watched the film on Netflix, having seen a few clips on YouTube which looked interesting. I'm not really an MMA/UFC fan, so I'm not going to try to blind anyone with technical insights regarding the fight scenes - but even to someone with my lack of knowledge regarding this sporting genre, the premise just seemed ludicrous. OK - the Tommy character is just about believable - a junior wrestling champion who joined the marines. He gets into this 'world class' 16 man tournament because of a viral clip of him beating up a supposed 'contender' in the gym. OK, I'll buy that, just. But his brother? A science teacher? Just how does he get into an elite, best 16 in the world, winner takes all competition - and, of course, you know he's going to win it right from the start (well he had to, because if he didn't his home would be repossessed!!). I watched it hoping beyond hope that we wouldn't get the cliched ending - maybe Tommy would win & give his brother some of the money to save his house & family. But no, Tommy loses (even though he was going to give all of his prize money to the widow of his marine buddy killed by friendly fire - I guess she just keeps living in poverty eh?) One day, a film will be made that avoids all of these awful chiches, but this isn't it. See more joseph w Nov 12 No no no no no absolutely shite wrong ending useless See more Jonas B Oct 27 The fight scenes are awful and Tom Hardy keeps messing about with his accent.
