Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com The characters are honest and true, the fight sequences are brutal and raw, while the central themes being delivered in the denouement pack a major emotional wallop. Rated: 3/4 Jan 27, 2012 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald Its three leads certainly deserve consideration for their artfulness in being able to infuse it with intimations of quality. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 26, 2011 Full Review Jim Schembri The Age (Australia) Grainy, hand-held cinematography can't lend authenticity to the forced emotion. Rated: 2/5 Oct 25, 2011 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review These stars deliver the goods in abundance, even if audiences must suffer through some obligatory training montages to get it. Rated: 3/4 Mar 8, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies The MMA action is bone-jarring and brutal and you can feel each punch and kick. But at it’s core this is a brilliant and heartfelt character study brought to life by some strong acting and a rock solid script. Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 21, 2022 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson The journey the characters take to get there sucks you in and melts the inherent predictability away. Alexis D Tom Hardy & Joel Edgerton han hecho un trabajo espectacular en su actuación, sientes la desesperación de los protagonistas sus combates, realmente es un final tan sentimental que me saco lagrimas. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Stephen H I mean this is one of the greatest drama films of all-time. The acting is tremendous, the story is wild, but it works. Don’t be surprised if this movie makes you cry. Finally a damn good MMA film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/30/24 Full Review Tweekie1978 W Hidden gem that I missed upon initial release and only watched over a recommendation from a friend. So glad I did. Lots of heart with acting of the highest level from a great cast. Nolte steals the show acting wise. 2 completely different characters as the leads but both with their own reasons to like and cheer on. Moving at times and fighting scenes very realistic. Really enjoyed this one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/29/24 Full Review Larry L If normal people instead of high flutes chose the movies for Academy Awards this would have won one hands down. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review Les K If you’re into artsy fartsy you probably will not get this film. If you have played a sport, have a brother, or lived in the real world you’re gonna love this! Fantastic acting by all 4 stars, great story line, and unbelievable cinematography, this is as compelling a story as the original Rocky. I’ve watched it twice, a few years apart, and I was simultaneously on the edge of my seat and crying both times. I highly recommend this to all you “salt of the earth” types. You won’t be disappointed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review João 1 good movie, bad ending, plot armor for brendan, it seems that brendan is a god of some sorts where he takes punches and punches, and looks like he doesn't feel them, the rest of the story i liked really much the charecter development really sucks you in, both brothers backstories are really emotional and you can relate with their feelings and determinations.
