Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter [Its] admirable intentions don't make up for its muddled execution. May 29, 2015 Full Review Ken Jaworowski New York Times There might be an engaging film buried beneath the severe dialogue, portentous music and ominous shadows of "1915." But a relentless and heavy-handed script makes the effort to find it seem futile. Apr 21, 2015 Full Review Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times The film plays out like a pensive, high-minded version of "Birdman or (the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)." Apr 16, 2015 Full Review John Fink The Film Stage 1915 suffers from simplifying the complex and opaque. Rated: C- Jul 14, 2015 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Despite its narrative clumsiness, 1915 does an impressive job of balancing different perspectives and concerns around the issue of remembrance, perhaps seeking to provoke more open dialogue on the subject. Audience Member Well directed and well acted! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm a young Armenian man. I watched this film because Serj Tankian did the score. Didnt know what to expect. I wanted to expect a live-action movie which reinacted the genocide, much like Schindler's List...however, this told a powerful, unexpected story through a bold parallel which delved deep into the psychology of what took place, how we feel about it as Armenians, and offered a gut-wrenching, heart-breaking yet hopeful path toward letting go, and possibly, moving on. The ending brought me to tears in an emotional crescendo. I felt the pain of the characters and what they faced. It's what we all face in our own way as Armenians. Live in the past, or move forward. Neither is without sacrifice. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Very original tight plot. A master of interwoven clues. Every element is carefully crafted, like a multi dimensional puzzle. Glad I found this gem. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie. Excellent cast. Very creative story line. The Armenian Genocide presented in a very unexpected way. Does not disappoint. Every scene leaves you with questions and wanting more. Truth is freeing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The Stories of my Grandparents once again became Vivid in my mind! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member They really did a good job with this movie. It was intricate. I believe the second time watching it will be just as good, if not better!
