Rezaul Karim Hridoy The main theme of the movie is so well. But at the first of the movie their are some romantic specially the college romance scene aare not acceptable. I think it was just time pass. after all, the movie has a great message Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/15/24 Full Review Audience Member A delightful watch for a brilliantly executed movie....... After many days, Chetan Bhagat's novel, by the same name, saw the light of the day and finally adapted to screen after much initial delays. If you didn't read the book at first, then the movie will be an interesting watch for you. For those who have already read the book, it would be delightful for them to translate the text to movie scenes. The story deals with how two souls met at a premium MBA institute of India, IIM Ahmedabad and how their friendship turned into a love affair. But the journey from love to getting married is not so easy to travel, in India. Here not only the lovers need to love each other but their parents also need to love each other. Hence starts the journey of Krish,a Punjabi boy and Ananya, a Tamilian brahmin girl from falling in love to finally getting married. The first thing to be noted about this movie are the brilliant performances of the lead characters, Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The terrific chemistry between these stars directly brings out the characters from the pages of the book and makes you believe that you are not watching a movie. Alongwith them, Ronit Roy,Amrita Singh, Revathy and Shiv Kumar Subramaniam also performed brilliantly. The screenplay was sharp, intelligent, neat and tidy. Music was good, but could have been better. New time director Abhishek Varman did a commendable job by taking the best out of everyone. Highly recommended. A movie that deserves repeat watching. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice movie. Saw on Netflix, so was able to forward a bit especially songs. Having said, a pretty good one. Especially someone who has spent time with both cultures will truly resonate with the story line. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review prateek s Kaash meri shaadi bhi kisi se hoti jisse main pyar karta hoon. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member In this very enjoyable comedy drama from director Abhishek Verman, Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt give very good performances in their roles as Krish and Ananya, two lovers from different cultures face an uphill battle when they try to get their parents' permission to marry. Krish is a student in Delhi while Ananya is also a student at the college where Krish is studying. They love each other and want to marry but when Ananya is introduced to Krish's parents, they are not happy about it and will do everything they can in order to make sure the two do not get married. There is solid support to be had from Ronit Roy and Amrita Singh as Vikram and Kavita, the parents of Krish. The direction from Verman is good because he keeps a good pace going from start to finish and the chemistry between the two leads is good because it shows much they care for each other. The script is well written by the director and it also has a decent soundtrack, with the song Mast Magan standing out best. The film won two International Indian Film Academy Awards (Bollywood's equivalent of the Oscars) for its solid music direction from Shankar-Ehsaan Loy and for its very good camerawork, while the music directing from Loy and Verman both won Filmfare Awards, with Verman picking up the award for Best Debut Director. This is one sweet and charming film with Verman getting off to a very good start with his directorial career. The performances, particularly from the two leads, are very good as well. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review yash b "2 States" is ultimately an effective movie because it has strong messages that traditional Indians need to hear. Sometimes the movie does drag because the storyline can overdo telling the same message over and over again, but I still enjoyed the movie overall. I mostly enjoyed the two romantic leads and their interactions with the parents in the movie. The movie balances comedy and drama well and finds the humor in teaching a valuable lesson. It's the type of Bollywood movie that sets out to challenge traditional people's thinking, which requires a certain level of boldness, and I admired that.  Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express The smooth, engaging first half descends, post-interval, into mopey melodrama, and I got impatient waiting for the inevitable resolution. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 15, 2015 Full Review Rachel Saltz New York Times "2 States" is an effort to go beyond formula while also embracing formulaic elements, including some nice song-and-dance sequences. The mix isn't right yet. Apr 20, 2014 Full Review Manjusha Radhakrishnan Gulf News (UAE) Don't skip this if you have a thing for happily-ever-after endings.
