Unlucky-in-love Owen (Paul Schneider) has had it with Los Angeles, where he's been stuck ghostwriting bloated autobiographies. After an earthquake, Owen realizes he's tired of being Mr. Nice Guy: he is brutally honest with his friends and housemates, sharing his true thoughts about them, then decides to leave town for good. At the airport, however, he bumps into Val (Jennifer Westfeldt), an acquaintance he has a crush on, and opts to stick around just in case she's the real deal.

Ronnie Scheib Variety Executes its clever premise with journeyman competence instead of true wit. Dec 31, 2004 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter The screenplay never quite lives up the cleverness of its premise, with the result that the proceedings never quite gather any comedic steam, though there are amusing moments along the way. Dec 31, 2004 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com Rated: 3/5 Mar 11, 2006 Full Review Film Threat Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 6, 2005 Full Review Merle Bertrand Film Threat While there's never any serious doubt about how director Jordan Hawley's bittersweet comedy is going to end up, it's still a fun and silly-in-a- good-way ride to get there.
