      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

6 Underground is loud, frenetic, and finally preposterous -- which is either bad news or a hearty recommendation, depending how one feels about the movies of Michael Bay.

Dave D Lots of great action, car chases and explosions. The plot of the movie has some big holes in it and it's hard to figure out how things go together sometimes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Dave V I knew I would love this movie. Once again the critics are idiots. One of the best action movies I have seen. If you want action you will love this movie. It is awesome!!!!! Also has a great message. Loved it!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/12/24 Full Review Donna B I love this movie so much I want a sequel. Fast paced entertainment at its finest. I need more of this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/24 Full Review Carson P Many to most reviewers are calling this the most Michael bay movie ever including those who are negative about the film that's because it's his most violent and has the most craziest and bonkers action scenes and chases ever with a ton of carnage and different ways of killing but while that is the case with 6 underground that it's loud and having violent action it's still a movie made for entertainment I'm sure bay knew what he was doing and that he wasn't making this for awards glory like he tried with pain and gain and 13 hours but it's more comprehensible than most of those transformers films he made it doesn't take itself to serious in trying to be an epic or something complex it's a movie where you should leave your brain outside and enjoy the ride the calm and non noisy moments are when there's no action and when the charachters interact but is loud when it wants to be when the action comes but this film has originality like stuff that I haven't seen in other action films before like them using a magnetic field against enemies or thy scene when they made an entire building play a loud sound from the THX logo or even to floddinh the building with water the action is mind blowing even if their loud but just because doesn't mean it's defeaningly noisy no it's not there is sparks flying and big scale destruction but it's done well and the films biggest strength next to being visually stunning and fun to watch for the most part the dialogue like in plenty of these types of movies has a style of its own as being macho, and having snappy lines with actors shouting out lines often but it wasn't cringe inducing, bassically they made the dialogue to be hilarious because that's one of the ways of making it entertaining, for some saying the film is ludicrous but isn't what those make it out to be even if there's yelling and snappy lines but it's not the worst dialogue ever there are plenty of movies with far worse written dialogue this isn't one of them the reason why I thought 6 underground was an entertaining ride of a film was because it has an adventurous set up of a group of agents going to different places to defeat criminals and at the end stop a dictator it's very interesting and the charachters are likeable and entertaining and those saying of them not having much charachter development or charachter arcs to them have a reason of saying that but as long as their are not dull and boring and entertaining you can root for them and that is a sign of charachters being engaging 6 underground may not be the best reviewed or even be the best bay has made but it's not his worst either even if you can say it's his most violent and destructive film to date it's not a bad film those critics or reviewers giving it negative reviews either just don't like violent action movies or action movies in genneral this is an entertaining action film for those who enjoy action movies and can be liked by fans who like films regardless of their genre it's everything a turn half your brain off entertainment popcorn flick needs to be and it's well shot and cleverly directed by action spectacle maestro Michael bay it is not his best or most critically acclaimed but it's better than some other films of his like his transformers sequals because this at least doesn't take itself to seriously in being complex Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/24 Full Review Pedro Henrique C I didn't like it until I slept because I was so busy Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/24 Full Review Russ S Loud and ridiculous. The subject matter could have been treated SO differently but all we got was another preposterous American action movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/10/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Robert Levin Newsday This is a terrible action movie that utilizes Michael Bay's worst instincts and none of his best. Rated: 1/4 Jan 3, 2020 Full Review Roxana Hadadi Pajiba Military idolatry and craven female objectification and a belief that the rich will save us? 6 Underground has it all! Dec 27, 2019 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) It's a film that lets its audience gorge on violence and bravado, only to make us feel sick of the taste by the final reel. Rated: 2/5 Dec 21, 2019 Full Review Elizabeth Garcia But Why Tho? A Geek Community At the end of the day, it is doing too much. The political commentary feels incredibly shallow and the plot is so barely there making it hard to follow and the heist confusing...I really, really wanted to like 6 Underground but I just can’t. Rated: 4/10 Jan 21, 2023 Full Review Josh Parham Next Best Picture The structure is poorly assembled and every character is given very little emotional depth. Rated: 2/10 Jun 4, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review There's a method to Bay's madness, and you'll find it crammed somewhere in-between his cuts by the millisecond and swooping low-angle camera movements.
