He pays for the surgery, makes a new identity for her and lodges her at the house of his friend Nini. She becomes the lover of Julien, who is a criminal. After a discussion with Nini, the limp Albertine leaves her house and works as prostitute. She falls in unrequited love with Julien, who frequently disappears. One day, she meets Marie, who was her first love, and they rekindle their love. "L'astragale", a.k.a. "Astragal" (2015), is a film based on excerpt from the life of the prostitute writer Albertine Sarrazin. This film is based on the novel "Astragal", a semi-autobiographical novel about her life of crime and imprisonment. The protagonist is a non-charismatic character, who is a marginal bisexual woman.
