Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine 99 Homes is worth seeing, especially for the urgent, raw work by both the actors and Bahrani, and for what it says about the American economy. Rated: 3/4 Jun 12, 2016 Full Review Alissa Wilkinson Christianity Today 99 Homes is very good at showing that the housing crisis is not a problem that belongs to one person. Rated: 4/4 Apr 13, 2016 Full Review Paul Byrnes Sydney Morning Herald The rackets and scams it exposes are all real, the result of extensive research. It's a gripping thriller with good guys and bad guys, but everyone in it is a victim, including Rick Carver. Bahrani's achievement in this film is breathtaking. Rated: 4.5/5 Nov 19, 2015 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Say this for 99 Homes: It contains arguably the most truthful snatch of dialogue to be found in any movie released so far in 2015. Rated: 3/4 Feb 12, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review 99 Homes really belongs to Shannon, offering a portrait of a man who has long since stopped asking about the ethical implications of his actions and, only after a few drinks, hints that he laments having to wear a concealed weapon. Rated: 3/4 May 12, 2022 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse Features a gut wrenching eviction scene that establishes the tone for the rest of the film. It's the stuff they don't show you on reality flip shows, the personal, tragic side of foreclosure. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 4, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Jelisije J You want to work for the guy who represents the bank who took your family home well guess what the main character didn't really have a choice and I'm happy I got to watch the rollercoaster of emotions this film provide me.......An absolute must watch of a film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/20/24 Full Review mark g Powerful and educational film. Strongly recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/26/24 Full Review Horror fan 4 Not as dramatic as Id thought it be but the performances of Garfield and Shannon were great. Tim Treakle Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/06/24 Full Review Jonathan K I actually think it's a decently good movie but the last section felt a little unbelievable. First, his mom leaving with his kid seemed over-reactive based on everything they'd shown onscreen leading up to it. At least with respect to the motivations and building of what the characters wanted and cared about. Maybe they should have spent some more time developing Laura Dern's character. And then second, Andrew Garfield's character telling on himself at the eviction at the end... I kind of don't believe that he would do that given everything that led up to it. I could see it bubbling to a boiling point of some kind, but to do something so self-injurious would have to come from such desperation and be of the nothing-left-to-lose variety, and because I didn't really buy the believability that his mom would leave with his kid it made the final climax much less impactful, kind of ruining the movie for me. And then. It just. Ends. Pretty weird. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Audience Member Very well done movie. Great directing, pacing, and great acting by Shannon and Garfield. The only negative is the subject material is depressing Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/18/24 Full Review Logan D During the Great Recession Dennis and his family are evicted from their home by a man called "Boss," Rick Carver. Unexpectedly, Dennis finds himself working for Boss in order to get his home back and make a lot of money in the process but at the price of his own integrity. Stellar performances all around, especially from the two leads. I loved the tension provided by the situation, the wrestling with one's own morality. Bahrani accomplishes a stirring thriller in which everyone is a product of the economy. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/24 Full Review Read all reviews
