Josh Bell Crooked Marquee Neither effective satire nor a satisfying version of a well-worn holiday tale. Rated: C Dec 14, 2022 Full Review Mike McGranaghan Aisle Seat A Christmas Karen has nothing new to say, so it simply hits the predictable beats on cue, leaving viewers feeling as though they're being told a joke they already know the punchline to. Rated: 2/4 Nov 30, 2022 Full Review Joel Fisher Battle Royale With Cheese With a great performance from Simms in the title role and a sharp, funny script written by Jon Binkowski, A Christmas Karen may be that Christmas tradition which you go back to so that it can remind you what it’s really all about. Nov 24, 2022 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film The real appeal of A Christmas Karen lies in the fact that there ain’t nothin’ like a dame, but US culture has never really seemed to know what to do with such women. K8 T This is in our Family rotation for Xmas movies!! Hilarious, Beautifully done and done with the best tongue in cheek kind of humour we LOVE. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/31/24 Full Review hsdjcghj K This movie has put me in the Christmas spirit ever since it released in 2022. It has a wonderful mixture of funny, and serious segments, which all mix together as one wonderful tale! I highly recommend watching this movie. Best 90 something minutes I have ever spent. -The Gimme Some Squirrel Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Sam F A hidden gem that deserves to be seen by more people. Michele Simms really knows how to do comedy and is a hoot to watch, but the entire ensemble was like a stocking full of tasty Christmas candy. There was a lot of rapid-fire slapstick mixed with compassionate heartfelt moments. I immediately watched it a second time to see all the performances again. I laughed out loud and I don't do that easily. It shows that you don't need a huge budget to make a smart and highly entertaining film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review Tim B My wife and I watched with our 10 year old grandson and we all loved it and laughed a lot. Everyone has met, or knows, someone like her. If you want to be insulated from people different from you then don't bother watching and don't leave the house. But just because I liked it doesn't mean I approve of their situation. It's funny and the Karen learns a lesson. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/25/24 Full Review Cork B Christmas Karen isn't awful, and the premise is pretty good. I figured they would botch the execution, not because they did a particularly bad job of it, but rather it is hard to create a story arc from a Karen stereotype. Usually an arc is from bad to good or you learn something valuable, but a Karen is a stereotype of banality. So you go from basically a drone to... I don't know maybe having a heart. There IS an arc, but is is just lacking. The acting isn't great, and the writing is... well... BETTER - there are some really good zingers in there... but again, the edge just isn't there. Impressive CGI for an indy, but it was still bad CGI, and ended up hurting the final product. And there is this weird obsession with uh not straight folks for some reason. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/25/24 Full Review Bully B I loved it. Watched it with my mom and we both laughed our asses off. For a seemingly low budget film it was actually better than some popular Christmas films i’ve seen. It was also a refreshing retelling of the classic A Christmas Carol film. 10/10 Definitely recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/19/24 Full Review Read all reviews
