Mike P Spoilers ..Well intentioned but uneven true life docudrama about an affluent housewife, Mary McCracken, who volunteers at a local school for disturbed children...(Taken from her real life memoirs)...She takes an interest in one of the children, Brian O'connell; who is likely autistic and non-communicative...An especially problematic child of the group...Who only communicates through high pitched screaming ...Eventually she has a breakthrough and is able to work wonders. This feels kind of like a 70s update of The Miracle Worker in someways...And it should have been structured more carefully...Also the high caliber number of stars here, (Jane Seymour, David Ogden Stiers, Matthew Laboreateaux, Kylie Richards, Phillip McKeon, and various others): is both fascinating and distracting...But it winds up making it feel more like an interesting curio than an authentic documentary of real events. Still there's excellent acting and some touching moments. Very mild recommendation in spite of flaws. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
