Phil Hoad Guardian With its sisyphean vibe and implacable mood, it also owes a fair bit to the Dark Souls video games; though it’s not a masterpiece on that level, it nevertheless has a grim self-conviction that grips despite its low-budget limitations. Rated: 3/5 Apr 7, 2025 Full Review Jules Caldeira Film Inquiry A Knight’s War blends classic fantasy motifs and adds a dark, unique edge that’s visually gripping. Mar 21, 2025 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix A Knight's War might satisfy viewers who like playing generic fantasy video games. Cinematically, the movie falls very short. The visuals are impressive for this low-budget film, but the performances and dialogue are flat and soulless. Feb 23, 2025 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies What impresses most is the way Ninaber and company do so much with so little...The production design, costumes, makeup, visual effects – it’s all a striking testament to the vision, vehemence, and virtuosity that drives the filmmaking. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 10, 2025 Full Review Nathaniel Muir AIPT A Knight’s War is an exciting fantasy adventure that is a much needed breath of fresh air. It does not try to reinvent the wheel because it does not have to. It delivers longtime fans exactly what they have been craving. Feb 7, 2025 Full Review Christopher Lloyd The Film Yap This horror/fantasy mashup conjures up some gruesome delights, but often feels like the playing of a Dungeons & Dragons module -- and not a particularly original one. Monsieur F Interesting low budget sword & sorcery fantasy movie with mediocre acting, some well known set pieces and tropes, some lengths in the middle part, a small cast and a few different sets, but directed with heart and passion, very atmospheric, mostly good camera work and well edited. Feels like a group of cosplayers and DnD nerds realized a fantasy project and it’s quite solid and fresh with a lot of handmade effects, some gore and some digital after effects. If you like the 80s sword & sorcery movies give this Canadian production a try. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/07/25 Full Review Leo P This is a genre I love, but I can't recommend this film. The storyline is awful, the scirpt is weak, the acting is bad, the entire movie looks like it was filmed on a sound stage and overall production is as cheap as can be.. it's a sword and sorcery sci-fi film poorly done.. this might have worked if the entire story was rewritten.. They should have introduced us to the main characters better, make them more relatable, more human.. what are their motivations, hopes dreams, something, anything?? These characters are just actors with a script in their heads.. as an audience member, I don't believe I'm in another realm.. this genre, when done right, should transport the viewers elsewhere.. this film bores you to death, fails to impress in any category and leaves you frustrated for having wasted an hour and a half of your life.. The only positive thing I can say is I liked the costumes. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/05/25 Full Review Tyson C. Nothing too deep, but visually compelling and worth a watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/04/25 Full Review Jelisije J A very underrated fantasy medieval movie that brings a level of homage to the old school storytelling of classic medieval stories. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/12/25 Full Review Riley A The effects, sets, wardrobe, etc are all pretty solid, but it's overshadowed by weak, cheesy dialogue, C+ acting, and a goofy story. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/01/25 Full Review Anthony S A souls-like movie about jolly co-operation, this is as close as we'll get to a Dark Souls movie until A24 finishes Elden Ring. Dialogue could be more engaging and not just a long set of instructions. A little more emotion and less whispering would be great, but the dry delivery still makes it feel even more like NPCs in the hub. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/29/25 Full Review Read all reviews
