Kat L This imperfect little film soared to be one of my favorites in the Hallmark Xmas genre. Even though the plot wasn't unique, I enjoyed how mature and calm the movie felt. No over the top drama, no silly misunderstandings and lack of communication - instead there were adult conversations, even tough ones. The film subverted a lot of typical genre cliches: there was the sleigh ride, but with the female lead - a rancher - literally taking the reins. There were strong women who led a successful business, and didn't give it up for a man. And even a kiss early on in the film and not delayed until the last minute. Beautiful settings in the forest and the farm, which didn't feel fake and claustrophobic. Characters were likeable but flawed, with loving but complex relationships - therefore it all felt a human. There was some genuine Christmas spirit of forgiveness. And the romance side was well woven into it too: a real simmering, palpable chemistry between the likeable leads - I was rooting for them.
