Audience Member It is so disappointing to see that this film is like a naive soap opera full of clichés and with poorly developed characters in unrealistic situations, but even worse is that it seems to advocate the infuriating message that love and happiness are more important than fighting for freedom. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A melodrama set in 1970's Brazil. The contrast between the brutal dictatorship and the era of disco did not work for me, but acting was good. Winner of major awards, especially for the script, the actual final product was rather grim and not as powerful in the bright moments that make melodrama work. The humor that begins at the piece, thanks to Giácomo sparkling character is gone by the end when people are being tortured and killed. I wanted to like the movie, but the linking of the separate stories was not done in a manner that drew me further in. Still, these stories do have interest and the movie will captivate some.
