Critics Consensus

While smarter than the average slasher film, A Perfect Getaway eventually devolves into a standard, predictable, excessively violent thriller.

Adam Nayman The Ringer The intimacy of A Perfect Getaway can be read as Twohy's response to his adventures in mega-budget moviemaking, as can its smartly self-reflexive references to the craft of storytelling itself. Aug 9, 2019 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg Time Out Rated: 2/5 Nov 18, 2011 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Rated: 2/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Michael Leader Den of Geek Utterly wafer-thin fluff – thinking too much, trying to retroactively fit its twist into the film's earlier moments, or discern motives and intention, will cause the whole thing to dissolve. A Perfect Getaway is a trashy, brain-relaxing treat. Rated: 3/5 May 7, 2024 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review You won’t be able to deny how engrossed you were throughout, how well Twohy keeps you guessing, or how realistic the characters feel for a time. Rated: 3/4 Sep 4, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Like most capable suspense films, the anticipation for shocks and instantaneous turns are surrounded by humor. Tina S I just did not enjoy this. Found it boring. Turned it off. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/16/25 Full Review Jose R Despite it having lots of common elements of this genre this movie is still enjoyable and of good quality. The actors are excellent, the script is very good and the finale is perfect. The title matches the ending in a good way, and overall it's better than other similar movies. It does have entertainment value. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/12/25 Full Review Iamwhoi M Gorgeous scenery, and a twist. Not the most misleading twist ever; but it works for this flick. Entertaining! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 06/04/25 Full Review Drew F Nice little twist at the end. Entertaining throughout. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/02/25 Full Review LacosteTK N Pretty Good Take On Meta Commentary About Movie Making, Great Writing And Great Performances From The Entire Cast. Although I Didn't Expect The Twist, It Wasn't Really Too Surprising For Me, It Just Made Less Sense The More I Thought About It, But Not Bad That It Took Me Out Of The Movie, So It's Worth A Watch Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/07/25 Full Review Mitch F One of the most underrated movies. Great story, great scenery, great acting, and a twist I didn’t see coming. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
