Clarisse Loughrey Kermode & Mayo's Film Review The film doesn't work without this character's pain, and Wilde absolutely sells it, a spectacular performance. May 31, 2019 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) [A] patient, nuanced film-making that showcases, in Wilde, a muscular and increasingly versatile screen talent. Rated: 4/5 May 31, 2019 Full Review Cath Clarke Guardian It's a tough, tense movie with a couple of bone-snappingly violent moments, but critically it dials down the exploitation. Rated: 3/5 May 29, 2019 Full Review Hagan Osborne FILMINK (Australia) ...powerful rumination on domestic violence... Rated: 17/20 Apr 1, 2021 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh A powerful debut feature with a commanding performance from Olivia Wilde that will hopefully see them both lean more into genre films in future projects. Rated: 3/5 Feb 5, 2021 Full Review Tom Meek Cambridge Day Wilde is fine, but the film never scores its punches as it keeps packing more and more on... vixen B As a survivor of domestic violence, I am always interested to see how this topic is handled in the media, and found this film tremendously honest, fresh, and emotionally gratifying. Olivia Wilde's performance was relatable, visceral, and intense, and her facial expressions and body language alone conveyed emotions where words alone would be insufficient. The repetition of the phrase, "The trucks just keep coming" ( pp ) however, was an evocative description of the relentless nature of continued abuse. Sadie's biggest triumph in the end, in my eyes, was not just overcoming her feelings of helplessness, but confronting her abuser with the truth of his actions, unrelenting to his manipulating tactics. Using her new-found inner strength to continue to help other DV victims demonstrated that she was on her own path to healing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/25 Full Review Angelo D Good acting, but the movie is super slow and overly dramatic. I don’t recommend it. Surprised that it’s certified fresh by the critics Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/02/25 Full Review Richard M Too disjointed to follow it keeps you guessing where in time are we? And then guessing if you've reached for the remote in time Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/27/25 Full Review Darrin M Olivia Wilde was amazing. Sad truth for so many women...amazing work that makes you feel what they feel. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Alyxia E It's a gem. Cannot fathom how the audience scores are so different from the critic scores. This is a 99.99% perfect film. The .01 bit is only because I personally struggle with how ---even when the camera cuts away every single time it should, and only vividly implies depictions of what is best not seen, it is a few times still a bit more graphic and intense than I personally want or need it to be to get the point. Points that I'm already quite clear on. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/12/24 Full Review Carlos G The acting is good and it is a good storyline but the movie was boring. It makes an effort to be a thriller but falls short. If someone like Joe Carnahan or David Ayer would have made it, it would have been a good action thriller. The storyline is as good as it gets but someone didn't know how to make a movie around it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews
