Karina Adelgaard Heaven of Horror While it seems like this movie might be exaggerating facts, it really isn’t. The real case was known as “The Black Widow of Patraix”. And yes, the use of “black widow” should tell you a lot. Rated: 3/5 Aug 11, 2025 Full Review Terry Staunton Radio Times The leads, Machi especially, acquit themselves well, but the riddles and red herrings may become too frustrating for viewers who prefer their murder yarns more open-and-shut. Rated: 3/5 Jun 11, 2025 Full Review Jennifer Green Common Sense Media This police procedural plays out predictably like a TV movie, but the actors keep you engaged in the drama until the end. Jun 10, 2025 Full Review Santanu Das Hindustan Times A Widow's Game feels morbid without the stench of death, and hollow in the way it avoids confronting the banality of this evil. Jun 5, 2025 Full Review M.N. Miller InSession Film The story isn’t just lazy and uninspired—it fails to let the audience truly know the victim, the affected family, or even the killer(s) beyond their one-note motivations. Rated: D+ Jun 4, 2025 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba It all sounds more lurid and juicy than it plays onscreen. I’m not sure how you mess up a story this scandalous, but A Widow’s Game somehow does. Jun 4, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Debatible. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/07/25 Full Review Joanna T Entertaining watch about a woman who cheated 1 month before her wedding but her partner forgave her and married her. She was unhappy in her marriage due to a mix of things... Her having to work 2 jobs, him not wanting to go on nice dates with her, boring routines of hanging out with relatives. She was doing her thing with collecting boyfriends, looks like she had 2 at work and then 1 who she met at a nightclub. They hooked up after the club then got into a relationship. The guy didn't know that she was married. Then she convinced one of her co-worker hookup buddies who was an older, chubby man with a wife and kid to kill her husband for her. She said that he was abusing her (which was a lie). They made a plan to kill him together. It was apparently based on a true story in Valencia, Spain. The loverboy/killer wanted to take the fall for her at first, but then when he found out that she was getting into other relationships with other inmates while they were in prison awaiting the trial, he retracted his statement and told the truth. His sentence ended up being less than hers. Very interesting that in Spain, the sentences weren't as harsh as in the United States. They got 22 and 17 years. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/20/25 Full Review fr123 j Seldom is a true story fascinating ......like this one. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/20/25 Full Review Scott B Enjoyed all the investigative work into solving the murder. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/13/25 Full Review Rotten P A Widow’s Game is a tightly crafted Spanish true-crime drama that eschews sensationalism in favor of a slow-burning, character-driven narrative. With restrained direction from Carlos Sedes and standout performances by Ivana Baquero and Carmen Machi, the film explores manipulation, desire, and moral decay with a chilling realism. While it may feel predictable to seasoned viewers, its commitment to psychological authenticity and procedural detail gives it a haunting, contemplative edge that lingers well beyond the final scene.
